2006 Legislator of the Year Award goes to Representative John Boehner

Each year, The Voice for Trees Political Action Committee selects a member of Congress as the TCIA Legislator of the Year. This recognition is given to a legislator who extols the virtues, and is supportive of legislative and regulatory measures, that advance the commercial tree care industry.

In addition, the Legislator will have worked closely with state and local officials and TCIA staff to introduce or support legislation or amendments that advance the Tree Care Industry Association's legislative goals.

Rep. John Boehner
R-Ohio, 8th District

The recipient of the 2006 “Legislator of the Year Award” is Representative John Boehner. Until two weeks ago, Rep. Boehner was Chairman of the House Education and Workforce Committee, which has direct oversight over OSHA. He was elected majority leader only days after the VFT- PAC Committee’s decision. One of the few Republicans in the House who isn’t interested in penalizing employers with fines or prison over paperwork and documentation issues, Boehner has been a consistent supporter of TCIA small business issues and is strongly on the side of OSHA reform.

TCIA will be presenting this Award to Representative Boehner later this year.
